Saturday August 18th - Doors @ 9 - $5 Entry.
The weekend of August 10th marked my second(?) tour with Space Bong. This time with shows in Sydney and Canberra on Friday and Saturday. We decided to fly, purely for the convenience and comfort. Although comfort not so much. The day we departed was horrible weather and we had to board and land in 60 km/h winds. It Sucked! I arrived in sydney and was happy to be on the ground again. I went straight to the bar and waited for the others. Soon we were all together and we made tracks to the place we were staying. Again, we stayed in Newtown with our Bass players (Miso’s) friends, John, Amy, Sophie and Others. They are THE nicest people ever. We arrived at the house with an hour to spare before the show started, so we got our shit together and made our way to The Landsdowne Hotel for Space Bongs first show of the weekend.
Friday nights show at The Landsdowne was to be headlined by Adrift for Days as it was their Cd Launch. Other bands on the bill were We Lost the Sea, Summonus and Space Bong. All Bands had wicked stage sound that night, and we had a sweet turn out of punters, packing the pub to its brim. We Lost The Sea were a standout for the night personally, if you get a chance to see them in your city, go check them out! Adrift for Days is a band lead by good friend Lachlan Dale. They are a must see for any of you doom heads. Great atmosphere, Epic sound, Chilling Vocals. A huge thanks to the The Landsdowne and Lachlan for organizing a great night, and thanks to all of you that bothered to come down and see a great show!
We decided to take a road trip to Canberra. We were helped by the bands we were playing with that night, Battle Pope and Fat Guy Wears a Mystic Wolf Shirt. The Dudes in the Fatguys bands were a crack up, which made the 3 hour drive go heaps quickly. Although piss breaks were had every half hour. We arrived at Dicks-on Backpackers. The last show of the tour was at a little pub called The Pot Belly Bar. The line up for the night was Battle Pope, Canberra Cannons, Fat Guy Wears Mystic Wolf Shirt and The Reverend Jesse Custer. The Reverend were the standout for the night for me. We got a great response from the Pot Belly. Thanks to all who came and nodded their heads & bought merchandise! Had a blast this trip, and there will be another coming up in September where we will be traveling up through Ballarat, Sydney, Newcastle and Melbourne. Will keep you posted.

I will try not let this happen again. Didn’t realize it had almost been a year since my last post! Anyway, let me fill you in on what has been happening with my drumming and my bands.
Awhile back I spoke of Gangrenous Penis heading into the recording studio to record our EP. Well just 2 weeks ago it was finally complete. Overall it took a total of 6 weeks to complete but only 1 day to record. A huge thankyou goes out to Dion Capagrecko for putting up with our fuck-aroundary and for such an amazing job on the EP. If you would like to hear it, hop on over to bandcamp and have a listen. Tell us what you think on our fb page.

I have joined a new band called Death-Cult Jock. They are a 5 piece Grindcore band with 2 albums under their belt. Being the genre of Grindcore, the music tends to be bit intense, with speeds exceeding 210bpm. I have been playing regular gigs with these guys for the last three or four months and it has been the best experience. We are in the midst of recording a 10” split with a band hailing from Copenhagen. We hope this will be finished and released on grindcorekaraoke.com well before the year ends. Death-Cult Jock have already got an album released on Grindcore Karaoke which is called West End Blast, you can check out right here.
Space Bong has been pretty quiet since about mid February. This was due to the fact that we lost 3 much loved members. The band said goodbye to Jock, Chris & Cheese. Personally they will be deeply missed. Jock and I had the whole rhythm section, and towards the end of him leaving we were locking in so well and it was sounding fucking awesome. Never-the-less we have new members on Rhythm Guitar, Vox & Bass. We welcomed Mikey, Jamie & Miso. We have interstate shows booked in Canberra and we may travel up the coast for more shows in August. Not far away at all. Initiate stress sequence. When I have more details of the gigs lined up I shall post them here first!
